Challenge:
Holmes Heating Inc., one of Ottawa's
largest and most-trusted family-owned heating, cooling and air
quality contractors, was looking to update the look, functionality
and search
engine optimization of its website.
The company's previous website was constructed in 2001. While
state-of-the-art at the time, the site simply could not compete
with modern search engine optimized websites and current Ottawa SEO
trends, as its structure and design were very outdated and the
amount of SEO content was minimal.
The client needed a brand new website that would not only quickly
and easily present its wide array of furnaces, air conditioners and
other HVAC products and services, but also allow the online user to
perform a variety of activities directly through the website such
as requesting quotes, renewing maintenance plans and applying for
financing.
Solution:
Working with the team at Envision Online Media, Marketing Breakthroughs
developed the overall structure and navigation of the new Holmes
Heating website, conducting extensive best practices research to
ensure the site plan met the needs of all of Holmes' target users,
including existing customers, new customers and homebuilders /
contractors. Marketing Breakthroughs then wrote the SEO web copy
for the new website.

The search engine optimized website was successfully launched in
early June 2007. By mid-August, the site had already experienced a
traffic increase of more than 30%. In addition, thanks to our
extensive search engine optimization strategy, the Holmes Heating
site is ranked #1 in the Google search results for more than 200
Ottawa heating and cooling search terms, SEO keywords, and
phrases.
