June 10, 2009 - It's enough to make your mouth water.

The salad has a duck confit citrus, and it's served with delicious baby spinach, golden sultanas, and pieces of thinly sliced blood orange. Then, wild Alaskan king crab legs, served with garlic butter, and finally, a succulent 14-ounce rib-eye steak, creamy mashed potatoes, and California zucchini.

The Marketing Breakthroughs team was full to the brim after the 2009 Gold Plate Dinner, held June 9 at the Hellenic Meeting and Reception Centre. As one of the event's sponsors, MB contributed many of its talents to this annual charitable dinner, and helped make it the most successful edition in the event's 24-year history.

"Our fundraising goals were achieved because of your generous contribution and commitment to our annual event," said Steve Ramphos, President of District Realty and co-founder of the Gold Plate Dinner.

The Gold Plate Dinner raises money for the Hellenic Community of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation. It's a massive undertaking for the Hellenic Community, but luckily, they had help.

Marketing Breakthroughs contributed its talent to many aspects of the event-branding, banners, e-flyers, sponsorship package as well as the evening's program and website were all designed and written by MB. Sponsorship packages were designed to attract the event's many generous sponsors. The classic gold and blue designs of the Gold Plate materials kept the spirit of the dinner, 'Traditionally Unconventional'.

Hellenic General Manager Erin Giakoumelos said the event ran very smoothly, accomplishing both its charitable and social goals. Marketing Breakthroughs' promotional material and event-planning skills helped the event run smoothly, she said.

"It's the social event of 2009 for the Ottawa Greek community," said Elise Goodhoofd, Marketing Breakthroughs' designer, who created the graphics for the event.

Ottawa radio personality Stuman Stu, the event's host, joined the nine-member MB team at their table for the evening. The event moved swimmingly from cocktails to dessert-Elise's favourite part-a sugary Italian pannacotta.

The Gold Plate Dinner has raised over $1 million in its 24 years, and the 2009 event maintained the spirit of good company and selfless charity. A brand-new 2008 Mercedes, donated by Star Motors of Ottawa, was raffled-elimination-style-giving the evening an exciting air throughout.

The 2010 Gold Plate Dinner marks the 25th anniversary of the event, and planning will soon be underway to ensure that next year's edition is the best and most delicious yet.
